Companies with the best 401(k) match

This list is computed only from match formulas a person has reviewed against the filing, and is not ready yet.
We rank an employer only when a person has reviewed its match formula against the audit report. So far 0 employers qualify; the list appears at 20. Meanwhile, look up an employer: each employer page quotes what its filing says about matching contributions.

How we rank

The maximum match is the most an employer adds, as a percent of pay, for an employee who contributes enough to get the full match. For “100% of the first 3% plus 50% of the next 2%” it is 4%. We rank only fixed formulas stated as a share of pay. Discretionary matches, and matches capped in dollars or as a share of the IRS limit, can't be compared this way and are left out. Non-elective and profit-sharing contributions are not counted.

Each employer appears once, with the latest human-reviewed formula from its largest plan. Formulas that are only machine-read are not ranked. Ties are broken by plan size. Rankings are not paid and are not financial advice. Plans change: check the employer's current Summary Plan Description. Methodology
