What Fidelity Investments' 401(k) plan says about matching contributions

The Company matched up to the first 7% of eligible participant pre-tax or Roth contributions in addition to the annual profit sharing contribution, subject to the IRC limits. The Company matching contributions for eligible participants of certain subsidiaries may be limited, as determined by each respective subsidiary. Company matching contributions are at the Company’s discretion and, along with the discretionary portion of the profit sharing contribution, are subject to the availability of sufficient Company profits and cash flow. All Company contributions are subject to initial and ongoing eligibility requirements. Employee forfeitures of Company contributions available to the Plan are allocated to participant accounts under the Company matching and the profit sharing contribution formulas, with the Company contributing any additional amounts needed to fully fund the applicable formula.

Loans
The Plan generally provides that participants may borrow funds from the Plan in amounts not greater than 50% of the participant’s contributions and which do not exceed $50,000. The loans are secured by the balance in the participant’s account and recorded at net realizable value. Such loans are repaid in weekly or bi-weekly installments (monthly for participants on an unpaid leave of absence), depending on the participant’s pay cycle, over a period not to exceed 10 years. These loans bear interest at the prime rate as determined from time to time by the Plan’s recordkeeper as of the last day of the month preceding the month in which the loan originated, plus (a) two percentage points if the term of the loan is not more than 5 years, or (b) two and one-half percentage points if more than 5 years.
